Anger Management & Domestic Volience

Insight offers an Anger Management/Domestic Violence Group at our Camp Springs, Maryland, location, facilitated by Henry A. McKinnon, JD, LGSW. Mr. McKinnon is a licensed social worker with experience in group facilitation in these subjects at other mental health facilities in the Washington Metropolitan area. He is licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland and worked as an attorney prior to pursuing his Masters in Social Work, with a clinical specialty. Prior to coming to Insight Treatment Centers, his experience in the social work field included working as a group facilitator in a treatment program for severely-mentally-ill adults, as a therapist in a college counseling center, and as the staff psychotherapist at an in-patient addiction treatment facility.

Our Anger Management/Domestic Violence curriculum consists of twenty, one-hour sessions prepared to teach clients to redirect their anger in ways which will achieve more positive outcomes. By participating in these groups, group members will learn to understand core concepts of anger management and domestic violence, identify triggers and cues, develop new anger-control techniques, and learn effective strategies for constructively channeling their anger. Graduates of this program will be able to apply the knowledge gained from the curriculum to their day-to-day lives and be empowered to have more control over the challenges which are an inevitable part of family, employment, and community interactions.
